Top Pakistani Shia leader for judicial commission to probe Karachi blasts
|
The blasts in two hours time also injured 167 people, according to provincial health minister Dr Sagheer Ahmed.
Sajid Naqvi told a news conference in Karachi that if the Government had conducted high-level probe into the attack on ‘Yaum-i-Aushra’ procession in December, then the Friday’s attacks would have not taken place.
He said the judicial commission should not only investigate the Friday’s attacks but also the Yaum-i-Aushra attack to apprehend the culprits. He added that this inquiry could reach decisive conclusion and bring perpetrators to justice.
He said that Shiites will observe protest day on Sunday across the country. He further said, “Mourning is our constitutional and religious right and we do not accept any restrictions on processions”.
Talking about banned organizations, he said, the government must investigate “who is financing them, why they are still functioning despite the ban, and who is patronizing them, who established them”?
Naqvi said, “We are not fearful of these cowardly acts of violence” adding Shias will continue to give sacrifices for the stability of Pakistan.
The government has formed a team to investigate the two attacks. No group has claimed responsibility for the attacks.
