Islamic TV Channel in Spanish Planned
|
Ahlul Bayt News Agency (ABNA.ir), Called Córdoba, the TV channel is aimed at spreading Islamic teachings among 700 Spanish speakers of the world in South and North America, Spain, and Africa.
Its headquarters will be in the Spanish capital of Madrid.
Saudi Arabia’s Risalat-ul-Islam Institute is launching the Córdoba channel. It also plans to start an Islamic radio station in Spanish.
Abdul-Aziz Al-Fawzan, an official with the institute, says awareness about Islam among the Spanish speakers of the world is inadequate. “There are a lot of Muslims living in Spain and Hispanic countries, but they, too, have little knowledge about Islam,” he said, stressing the need for an Islamic TV with programs in Spanish.
Córdoba is a city in Andalusia, southern Spain. In the Middle Ages it was capital of the Islamic caliphate which conquered and ruled Spain for nearly 800 years. During this time Cordoba was one of the largest cities in the world whose name continues to represent a symbol of Islamic conquest to many faithful Muslims around the world.
