(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - We have conducted an interview with Peter Eyre, Middle East consultant from London, to further discuss the issue. The following is a rough transcription of the interview.

Q: A very undiplomatic term has been used by [the Russian] Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov when he says that Russia is being blackmailed. First of all, what do you make of this statement and what does this signify?

Eyre: It is blackmailing. We’ve seen tremendous activity from the UN and also from America. They’re key players now, infiltrating the Middle East, China and Russia. We’ve got [US Secretary of State Hillary] Clinton visiting Egypt. We’ve got [UN Secretary-General] Ban Ki-moon on his way to China, and it just goes on.

This is political manipulation at the highest level. I’ve never understood. I’ve been in the Middle East since I was 15 years of age and I’ve never seen such a diabolical, disgraceful media presentation of false information coming out from the Zionist controlled media.

Thank God that we’ve got Press TV to put some sort of balance into this situation. Unless that coverage is maintained, then what little hope there is of getting parts of the world on your side will simply disappear.

They’re even talking again about a no-fly zone, and we can see Libya all over again.

Q: Let’s speak about that UN resolution. Lavrov has said that the resolution is in violation, in his words, of the Geneva agreement that stipulates political transition in Syria.

So, would you say that this resolution is actually, as Russia is saying or alleging here, showing that the West is actually not looking for a political solution to the crisis and rather it could be a prelude to a military intervention?

Eyre: Yes, it certainly is because if you look at the scenario as it occurred in Libya, you’ve got a similar infrastructure coming into place to manipulate the United Nations into taking action.

What I find quite startling is that we have the so-called Security Council that vote on the various issues around the world, and at times the UK or US veto those sanctions especially when it involves Israel or a friend of Israel; and yet the same diplomacy, the same so-called democracy when it comes to Syria to other countries Russia and China veto and that’s a different ballgame.

This is clearly a new world order manipulation of the United Nations. The issue here is that it isn’t just a case of Syria because if they do take on Syria and they do take action, you can rest assured there will be side tracks into parts of Lebanon for Hezbollah, and there will probably be Israeli attacks on Hamas and key elements in Palestine because all these people are allies to each other. So, it will be a, I think, a three-tier trust.

The world has to understand, listen to the truth, listen to Press TV because this is all lies. The next step and the ultimate target is Iran. If Syria goes, it’s quite obvious they’re going to open the door and apply more pressure to Iran.

This is not a new thing that’s just come out. It’s been well-planned for 20 years. It’s been talked about again in 2001. And the ex-supreme commander of NATO, General Clark, has verified and stipulated that it was said in the Pentagon they are going to take seven countries out. This is before President Assad even came to power.
