(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) -  Bahraini authorities have banned Mrs. Ahlam Al Khuzaie, head of Al Wefaq Women’s Department, from travelling, detaining her at the airport. She was stopped from boarding her flight at Bahrain International Airport in the early hours of Friday 3rd August. She was detained and transferred to a police station for investigation.

Mrs. AlKhuzaie was heading to the Republic of Tunisia at the invitation of Amnesty International, who is hosting an international human rights conference there.

Al Wefaq expresses its deep concern at the detention of a member of their General-Secretariat and the decision to ban her from travel.

Mrs. AlKuhuzaie was detained for around 8 hours before being released, although she was not permitted to continue her journey to Tunisia.
