Larijani: NAM has a big share in United Nations |
(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - Larijani made the remarks among the reporters on the sidelines of a meeting with the members of Iran's National Paralympics Team on Sunday and in reaction to withdrawal of the UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon from attending the upcoming NAM meeting.
'The withdrawal of Ban Ki-moon from attending Tehran's summit does not cause any problem for NAM meeting,' he added.
Majlis speaker pointed out that since the share of NAM member-states in the UN is big, it is beneficial for the UN to attend the meeting if that organization wants to have an overall presence in the world.
Larijani, however, noted that the presence of Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi in the upcoming NAM meeting is very useful and beneficial.
'Since long time ago, Egypt and Iran as two big Muslim countries have had close ties and played key roles in the Islamic civilization,' he added.
Larijani together with head of Iran's National Olympics Committee Mohammad Ali-Abadi, Sport and Youth Minister Mohammad Abbasi and Head of Martyrs Foundation Organization Masoud Zaribafan met the Iranian athletes of the upcoming London 2012 Paralympics competitions.
