(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - India’s Uttar Pradesh State Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav Wednesday demanded an "immediate" ban on the anti-Islam film, that triggered protests in several parts of the world.

Akhilesh shot off a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and requested an "immediate and strict ban" on the film on Youtube, and other websites, pti reported quoting an official spokesman as saying in Lucknow, capital city of the state.

The chief minister said the film was hurting the sentiments of Muslims.

Meanwhile a delegation of Islamic centre of India, led by Imam Maulana Khalid Rashid, on Wednesday, met the chief minister and asked him to request the centre to ban the movie.

The chief minister while assuring members of the delegation said the state government will take every possible step in this regard, the spokesman said.

Condemning the anti-Islam film the Jammu and Kashmir government yesterday said it was an attempt to wedge apart different sections of the society and create hatred.

"The state cabinet which has met in Jammu under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has condemned the production and telecast of blasphemous film on Holy Prophet (PBUH), describing it an attempt to hurt the sentiments of people and disturb international peace," a spokesman of the state government said.

Sharing the sentiments and concern of the people of Jammu and Kashmir over the film released by an extremist, it observed the act as provocative, unethical and against the religious and human sentiments.

"We share the feelings and grief of the people and condemn the act vehemently," the chief minister said, appealing the people to maintain calm and not to get provoked as the people behind this act want to create disturbance.
