Israel, the sole country to have legalized the use of torture
(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) -The Arab Organization for Human Rights in Britain (AOHR) said that "torture is a crime that violates seriously human rights whether it is committed against an individual or a group," stressing on the role of national courts, in any country regardless of where the crime was committed or the nationality of the offender, to provide the victims with justice.

AOHR called on the international human rights organizations, in a statement on Tuesday on the International Day against Torture, to bring lawsuits against perpetrators of torture, whoever they are. The organization added that such a step would certainly help to eradicate this disease the effects of which are known only to a few.

The organization expressed concern about the suffering of the Palestinian people who are tortured under the occupation, where the statement said that the Palestinian people have been subjected to all forms of torture under occupation for decades, confirming that torture is practiced in broad daylight by Israel which is almost the only country that has laws and courts that allow torture, where hundreds of Palestinians have been exposed to the most heinous methods of torture in interrogation centres.

The human rights organization hailed the Arab people who "asserted their authority in the region through toppling the cruelest regimes that practiced tortured systematically against their own citizens in Egypt, Tunisia and Libya,” adding that “the main reason behind the toppling of the Egyptian regime is its systematic torture in its prisons against innocent citizens, many of whom died under torture, where the revolution spark was the killing of Khaled Said of Alexandria under torture during his detention.”
